CARPHA, a Public Health Agency serving 23 member countries in the Caribbean, headquartered in Trinidad and Tobago, with campuses in St. Lucia and Jamaica, invites applications from suitably qualified nationals of CARPHA member states to fill the positions described below. An excellent opportunity to contribute to the improvement of public health in the Caribbean region exists for the selected candidates.

Chief - Bacteriology, Port of Spain, Trinidad

This position provides leadership and technical expertise in clinical Bacteriology oriented to public health. It will be responsible for the development and implementation of a strategic plan for the Unit of Bacteriology at CARPHA Laboratory, in support of the Agency’s Epidemiology and Surveillance program, including the development and implementation of the Bacteriology Unit’s work plan. The position works closely with the Laboratory Director and with the Quality and Bio-data Managers to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of quality services in the Caribbean laboratory network.

Compensation Package

A competitive salary, in Trinidad and Tobago dollars (TT$), is being offered with an attractive benefits package that includes group life insurance, a group health plan with vision and dental benefits and a defined contribution pension scheme. Head - Non-Communicable Diseases & Life Course

Under the direct supervision of the Director – Surveillance, Disease Prevention & Control, the incumbent manages the operations of the Department of Non-Communicable Diseases & Life Course (NCD) , and participates in the planning and development of policies and strategies for the provision of epidemiologic, technical, information and training services to CARPHA Member Countries (CMCs); ensures the key linkage between the Department of NCD and other departments and units; advises the Director - Surveillance and other relevant staff on appropriate technical matters, and ensures the technical quality and relevance of departmental outputs. The position also oversees the monitoring and evaluation of the performance and development of personnel within the NCD Department.

Compensation Package

A competitive salary, paid in the currency of the country of posting, is being offered with an attractive benefits package that includes group life insurance, a group health plan with vision and dental benefits and a defined contribution pension scheme. Additional benefits for non-nationals of the country of posting and nationals whose normal place of residence is outside of the country of posting.
